Food back to picture
All food (unless it is totally dried like powdered milk) contains water. So when you eat you are also putting water into your body
Drinks back to picture
All drinks contain water
Water Made back to picture
The body actually makes water that it can use. It does this in all its cells in the process of respiration. You should know this equation inside out:
glucose + oxygen --> carbon dioxide + WATER (+ energy)
Breathed Out back to picture
The air that you breath out contains water vapour (although you can't see it). When you breath against a cold window the water in your breath condenses and appears as liquid water on the window.
Sweat back to picture
Sweat is required to cool the body down. When you sweat you lose a lot of water. Therefore, on hot days you are going to lose a lot of water through sweat (even if you don't see sweaty patches under your arm!). Sweat is made up of water, ions (salt) and urea.
Urine back to picture
When you drink lots of water, you will produce lots of dilute urine. If you haven't drunk much, or you've lost a lot of water through sweat, you will produce a small amount of concentrated urine. Urine is made up of water, urea and ions.
Faeces back to picture
Faeces is better known as 'poo' or *&X! It contains water to allow it to pass through your system easily. Sometimes the water levels in your faeces get 'mucked up' and you end up getting constipated or having diarrhoea
