Before you delve further into this section, you must familiarise yourself with the labelling and function of the Organs outlined elsewhere in this site.

Homeostasis is about the body keeping its internal environment constant. The processes that it must keep at a constant level are:

1. The body's internal TEMPERATURE (ie the blood) must be kept at 37oC.

 

2. The amount of WATER in the blood must remain constant.

 

3. The amount of SUGAR must also remain at a fixed level.

 

4. The ION content of the body must be controlled.
